MENU QR CODES IN RESTAURANTS CAN ALSO BE USED FOR SELF-SERVICE
Normally you associate menu orders in restaurants and cafes with having the food brought to the table when it is ready. This obviously requires a waiter or runner who brings the food.
In these times when hotels and restaurants are struggling with major problems because they cannot get staff, many would like to switch to self-service. And what only a few still know, it is actually possible to make QR orders at the tables, but at the same time make self-service if the guest collects the food himself.
It has several advantages in that the restaurant saves staff, or can be flexible and do self-service during the busy periods. After all, you don’t want guests to be unhappy that they don’t get their food when it’s ready, hot and fresh, and that’s why during busy periods it can make sense to switch to self-service.
DISCOVER SYSTEMS – TABLE CALL SYSTEM
The TableCall system from Discover Systems is a new and innovative system which enables restaurants to have both QR code ordering and self-service.
The system consists of a special programmed pager which is in a display on each table. The pager’s number corresponds to the table number. When the guest orders his food through the QR code, the order goes directly to the kitchen on either a kitchen printer or kitchen display as usual. At the same time, the guest is notified in their order/app that their food is ready when the pager in the display on the table beeps and flashes, and can be picked up at the counter or wherever you make your food delivery.
When the food is produced in the kitchen, the chef or other serving staff can send a signal to the pager on the table, and the guests thus know that their food is ready for collection.
The system must of course have integration with the POS system and the restaurant’s KDS (kitchen display system) if you have one, but can also work analogously using a call center that can be placed in the kitchen.
If the restaurant’s POS system does not have integration, we can create this integration in collaboration with the POS supplier, which we are happy to help with.
